Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team on a part-time or PRN basis to cover shifts in our Dublin VA, Covington VA and Altavista VA locations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive patient care across diverse clinical settings, utilizing advanced clinical skills and a broad range of medical procedures. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in primary care, urgent care, or specialty medicine, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. This position emphasizes delivering exceptional patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical histories, to establish accurate diagnoses. Prescribe medications and treatment plans in accordance with state and federal regulations, including DEA guidelines for controlled substances. Perform clinical procedures such as suturing, IV insertion, catheterization, and wound care, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques. Manage acute and chronic conditions across various specialties including emergency medicine, geriatrics, behavioral health, and infectious disease care. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for documentation, order entry, and patient data management. Collaborate with healthcare professionals across disciplines to coordinate patient care plans and facilitate referrals when necessary. Participate in telehealth consultations to extend access to quality healthcare services remotely. Assist in medical office operations by managing patient intake, scheduling, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Qualifications Valid certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with current licensure in the relevant state. Demonstrated experience working in diverse clinical environments such as hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate medical documentation. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Experience performing procedures such as suturing, phlebotomy, venipuncture, and sterile processing is preferred. Familiarity with CPT coding and ICD coding for billing and documentation purposes. Critical care experience including ICU or Level I Trauma Center settings is advantageous. Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on health management strategies.
