Position Overview We are seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) o to provide medical services within an inpatient psychiatric setting, with a primary focus on medical treatment follow-ups and completion of histories and physicals (H&Ps). This role supports psychiatric care by addressing patients' medical needs, ensuring medical clearance, and monitoring ongoing medical conditions during admission. The ideal candidate is clinically confident, efficient, and comfortable working with psychiatric patient populations in a structured inpatient environment. Key Responsibilities Perform initial medical histories and physical examinations (H&Ps) for patients admitted to the inpatient psychiatric unit. Conduct medical treatment follow-ups for patients during their inpatient stay. Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions within scope of practice. Review laboratory results, imaging, and diagnostic studies and initiate appropriate medical interventions. Provide medical clearance documentation in coordination with psychiatric providers and nursing staff. Identify medical conditions that may impact psychiatric treatment and communicate findings to the interdisciplinary team. Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, nursing staff, and allied health professionals. Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings as needed. Documentation & Compliance Complete timely, accurate, and thorough documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), including: H&Ps Daily or periodic medical follow-up notes Medical clearance and treatment recommendations Ensure documentation meets regulatory, accreditation, and facility standards. Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and facility policies, including HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements. Required Qualifications Master's degree or higher from an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program. Active, unrestricted FNP license in Wisconsin. Current DEA registration in Wisconsin. Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred). Experience performing medical H&Ps and managing common medical conditions. Comfort working with psychiatric and behavioral health patient populations.
Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in:
Inpatient psychiatric settings Behavioral health or substance use treatment facilities Hospital or acute care environments Familiarity with medical clearance processes for psychiatric admissions. Experience working collaboratively with psychiatric providers and nursing teams. Experience with EHR systems.
