Job Description

Summary:
The position is responsible for rendering nursing care in terms of individualized patient needs according to recognized nursing techniques, procedures and established standards based on the scope of practical nursing, under the direction/delegation of the nursing manger.
Essential Functions:
Accountable to the Nurse Manager. Perform delegated independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines and standards. Maintain and coordinate communication among patient/significant other, staff and physician as evidenced within medical record, client and health care team feedback with respect to their confidentiality and privacy. Assess symptoms, obtain past medical history, and current medication list. Greets patients and prepares them for providers examination. Obtain and document patient vitals, conditions, and reactions to treatments. Scribes for the provider, typing skills required. Ability to input data in EMR system. Oversee preparation of exam rooms which includes restocking medical supplies, educational materials, and supplies. Assist with minor procedures. Answer and refer telephone calls or other inquires to ensure accurate and timely communications are facilitated. Maintain a clean and safe environment. Maintain patient confidentiality, including HIPAA and practice specific compliance guidelines. Required Education and Physical Demands Preferably 1 year experience in a medical office setting. High school diploma required. CNA certification required. MA certification preferred. This employee must be service oriented and have excellent customer service skills, computer skills, organizational skills, multitasking skills, professional interpersonal skills, time management skills, the ability to prioritize work, and telephone etiquette. This job operates in a professional medical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items between 5 and 20 pounds.
