Job Description
The Certified Nursing Assistant , under direction and supervision of an RN and/or Charge/Supervisor Nurse, administers direct care supportive and complementary to nursing practice to patient/resident in an efficient, safe, and courteous manner. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to patients/residents served on assigned unit. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements, and to provide the care needed per policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
High School Graduate or Equivalent Must be able to read and write English California Nursing Assistant Certification; current, active and in good standingCurrent BLS Certificate Job Requirements:
Assists in admission and discharge/transfer of patient/residents as directed by RN/LVN and according to policy and procedure. Cares for patient's valuables according to procedure with assistance of RN/LVN. Assists patient/resident in preparing for discharge: dressing, packing, accompanying discharged patient to vehicle. Reports significant unusual findings to RN/LVN. Maintains a clean, orderly unit for each patient/resident. Assists patient/resident at individual level of capability - cleanliness, grooming, nourishment, rest, activity, and elimination. Assures that isolation principles are understood and carried out. Cleans kitchen, utility rooms, etc., as assigned by RN/LVN. Cleans units in absence of environmental services staff. As assigned, completes any patient/resident care responsibilities or assignments left from previous shift and reports any incomplete assignments to the next shift. Answers call lights promptly and refer questions or problems to RN/LVN in charge; assists with unit clerk duties as competent and indicated to support nursing unit; Makes patient / resident-to-patient/resident rounds at beginning and end of shift with assigned CNAs, relaying pertinent information and fulfilling patient/resident needs. Gives end of shift verbal report to charge nurse. Demonstrates competency and participation, under the direction of the RN/LVN, in implementation of treatments and programs including, range of motion, ambulation, feeding, bowel and bladder retraining, restraint reduction, special skin care, positioning devices, and behavior monitors, encouraging maximum levels of function. Collects and records information pertinent to the patient's/resident's status. Takes vital signs, assists with ADLs and meals, assist with transport of patient/residents, passing and offering clean pitchers and water. Empties and measures drainage tubes and bags as directed by RN/LVN. Notifies RN/LVN of significant changes in the patient's/resident's condition. Record nutritional intake and I & O. Makes regular patient/resident rounds. Demonstrates competency in the process of treatments, follow up labs, positive cultures, diagnostic imaging, monitoring system, nurse call system, and release of remains. Demonstrates proficiency navigating through and documenting in Orchard Hospital Health Information Systems (HIS) including Chart Access, Point Click Care (for assigned unit). Proficiency with ELearning, and Orchard Hospital email and Policies and Procedures - checking email each day worked. Demonstrates effective communication with members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes; attends and participates in all required in-service training and mandatory meetings (75% staff meetings) per policy. Actively participates in the patient/resident's plan of care and assists in implementing nursing intervention at patient/resident level of care. Maintains awareness of the patient's/resident's and family's need for emotional support and understanding. Listens to patient's concerns and make sure the patient/resident and family understand treatments and procedures.Similar remote jobs
