DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, supports the continuum of care by providing basic patient care and assistance with activities of daily living. Performs uncomplicated technical procedures. Participates in performance improvement activities, such as chart audits. Utilizes a variety of technical equipment and supplies.
Provides basic patient care support:
patient transport, specimen and blood and blood products transport, EKG's and inventory management. This position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Participates in collaborative team environment, including: training and evaluation of peers; scheduling of work; and assisting the administrative functions of the unit. Explore and experience the passionate care of a diverse patient unit ranging from Intermediate Care down to Tele/Medsurg overflow. Thornton's 2 East is a 26-bed inpatient unit which specializes in ICU stepdown, medicine, cardiac, and heart failure specialties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. Demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal. Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients. Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all disciplines of staff including nurses, technologist, physicians, advanced practice providers, and patients both verbally and in writing. Ability to critically handle unexpected challenges and collaborate on solutions with a patient centered approach
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual:
Spanish/English. Previous acute care experience. IMU or PCU experience. Medical Terminology Certificate.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Must be able to work variable hours, shifts, locations (Hillcrest & La Jolla) based on business needs.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range:
$50,279 - $62,452 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent:
$24.08 - $29.91 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
