Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. The DSP will play a crucial role in providing care and support to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their well-being and promoting their independence. This position involves working in various settings, including group homes and assisted living facilities, where you will assist residents in daily activities while respecting their rights and dignity. Responsibilities Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, grooming, and dressing. Support residents with meal preparation and ensure nutritional needs are met. Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions and outcomes. Assist individuals with daily living skills to enhance their independence. Advocate for resident rights and ensure a safe, respectful environment. Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and progress made. Collaborate with other team members to develop individualized support plans. Participate in training sessions on first aid and emergency procedures as required. Qualifications Experience in home care or working with individuals with disabilities is preferred. Knowledge of behavior management techniques and systems used in care settings. Familiarity with resident rights and the importance of advocacy in care provision. First aid certification is a plus; willingness to obtain certification if not already held. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others achieve their goals. Ability to perform physical tasks associated with caregiving, including lifting and mobility assistance.
