Duties A companion for the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) in Florida provides non-medical care, supervision, and socialization to adults with developmental disabilities. Known formally under the iBudget Florida waiver as Life Skills Development Level 1 (Companion Services) , this role focuses on helping individuals gain independence, access their community, and achieve goals outlined in their support plan. NO hands-on medical care. NO administering of medication. NO heavy cleaning or skilled nursing tasks. Requirements Must have hight school diploma Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and emergency procedures such as CPR and first aid Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks required for resident mobility assistance Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and healthcare teams Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to provide empathetic care and supportJoin us in creating a caring environment where every individual feels valued, supported, and empowered.
