Job Description

SouthCoast Health Is Looking for A PRN (as needed basis) Medical Assistant/LPN For Our Richmond Hill Location Mon-Fri; no evening or weekend shifts Responsible for providing professional nursing care to clinic patients under the direction/delegation of Physician under the general policies and procedures established by SouthCoast Health. Will participate in providing health promotion, health maintenance and management of illnesses for patients. Provides care as allowed within the scope of the Georgia Licensed Practical Nurses Board.
Requirements:
Must pass proficiency test. Current Georgia LPN or Compact Nursing licensure.
Current BLS/CPR Certification Qualifications:
Able to assess patients' general condition, particularly the acutely ill patient and ensures that needs are met. Able to assists the physician(s) with examinations, vaccines, diagnostic procedures, and treatments. Provide direct patient care as ordered by provider. Maintain confidentiality in matters regarding the clinic, its patients and employees.
Responsibilities:
Accurately documents all patient observations, treatments and procedures administered, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed, hospital data in the medical record. Coordinates patient care by triaging patient phone calls regarding urgency of appointments, and scheduling hospital admissions. Processes all patient referrals and required follow through. Maintains and keeps updated referral report. Schedules lab work, specialist visits, completes necessary paperwork to ensuring proper billing, completes physician orders. Verify and update patient data. Assists patients with completion of paperwork, as required. Assists with patient inquiries/concerns regarding medical care, medication instructions and prescription call-ins in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner. Coordinates care with hospital, home health services, hospice or other institutional settings per provider's order. Administers immunizations and vaccines as needed.
Education/ Experience :
High school graduate or equivalent required.
LPN :
Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing training program required or accredited school of practical/vocational nursing program.
Medical Assistant :
1. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, or 2. Medical Assistant in the military, or 3. EMT-A or paramedic. An exception may be granted to individuals that have not attended an accredited training program but do have a national certification in medical assisting and (ii) a minimum of 2 years of medical assisting experience. Such exception may only occur following a thorough evaluation of the individual's experience; training/education; skills and qualifications, (ii) a determination by the Director of Nursing that such individual has the requisite skills and knowledge to perform as a Medical Assistant.
