Job Description Join Hilo Benioff Medical Center and be part of a team that proudly cares for our friends, family, and neighbors across East Hawaiʻi. Job Description These positions for the Nurse Aide Training Program will be in our Hilo Benioff Medical Center Acute Nursing Departments.
These may include:
Medical-Acute, Transitional Care Unit, Surgical-Pediatric, Emergency Services, Nursing Administration, and Progressive Care Unit. FTE's for these positions varies. Nurse Aide Training Program will start on: July 13Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct patient care and assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, feeding, mobility, and transfers. Monitor, measure, and accurately document vital signs, intake/output, patient observations, and report changes in condition to licensed nursing staff. Assist with routine clinical procedures and treatments under the direction of licensed personnel, including specimen collection, oxygen application, enemas, and range-of-motion exercises. Support patient comfort, safety, and well-being by maintaining a clean, safe environment, following infection control protocols, and assisting with transportation, meals, and recreational activities. Communicate respectfully with patients and families, maintain confidentiality, contribute to care planning, and participate in education, admissions, transfers, and discharge processes. Prerequisite Qualifications Required forEntry Level Knowledge of:
Personal hygiene and bodily care.Ability to:
Read, write, speak and understand simple sentences in English; follow oral and written instructions precisely; get along well with others; acquire and demonstrate an attitude of respect toward patients with a variety of disabilities; retain emotional stability despite emotional and physical pressures; develop an appreciation of nursing and medical ethics.Certification Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Prerequisite Qualifications Required for the Full Performance Level In addition to the Entry Level Qualifications Required for the applicable work setting:Experience and Essential Knowledge and Abilities:
One (1) year of work experience in a health facility such as a hospital or similar medically oriented institution where the primary or basic objective was to observe and report on a variety of physical and/or mental symptoms and conditions and implement care and/or treatment procedures for a caseload of patients. Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills (i.e., taking vital signs, measuring output, recognition of abnormal signs and symptoms, etc.); first aid; patient rights; universal precautions; infection control; body mechanics; principles of growth and development; purpose and benefits of activities of daily living (i.e., eating/feeding, providing fluids, bathing, dressing, etc.); purpose and benefits of restorative care (i.e., use and application of assistive devices, range of motion activities, etc.); basic medical and nursing terminology; and the ability to assist and participate in the activities of the treatment team; assess each patient's age specific needs; and independently provide age specific direct personal care services to a caseload of patients.
