Job Description

THE STAFF AND PROVIDERS AT NORTH IDAHO UROLOGY PROVIDE OUR PATIENTS WITH THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE LEVEL OF TREATMENT AND SERVICES IN NORTH IDAHO. ALL OF OUR PATIENTS RECEIVE UNCONDITIONAL CARE FROM MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS PRACTICING THE MOST PROGRESSIVE UROLOGIC TREATMENT PROCEDURES IN MEDICINE. OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE HIGH-QUALITY UROLOGIC CARE TO OUR PATIENTS IN A COMPASSIONATE MANNER. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with providers and other medical staff/nurse manager/and administrator to provide quality care to patients in a positive work environment. Obtain patient history to include chief complaints, history of present illness, social history, medical history (urological and general), family history (urological and general), history of allergies and medications Prepares patient charts and reviews labs, imaging, and other reports to ensure all patient records are current. Timely rooming of patients, collecting vital signs, specimens, administering shots, and carry out orders as directed by the provider. Preparing exam room and patients for procedures, physicals, etc. Assist providers with patient exams and procedures as needed. Returns all patient phone calls promptly. Same day call backs are preferred. All calls must be returned within 24 hours. Urgent calls should immediately be brought to the providers' attention. Call patients with lab and/or test results after the provider has reviewed the results and written recommendations. Document critical lab values/test results when received via telephone and immediately notify provider of results. Electronically prescribing medications as directed by the physician. Provide sample medications to patient as instructed by provider. Monitors patient progress and evaluates follow up actions required to meet the patient's needs by providing quality care through patient experience. Evaluates documents and distributes applicable clinical correspondence in a timely manner. Complete paperwork related to office visit (lab requisitions, pathology forms, etc.) Completes phlebotomy, specialty blood draws, proper handling of applicable specimens. Clean examination rooms after each visit and at the end of each day. Restock exam rooms weekly and as needed. Assist with patient education. Sterilization of tools. Sharing ideas and solutions for continuous improvement. Proper handling of protected health information. Willingness to travel to other north idaho urology offices as needed. NIU QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent customer service and communication skills. Detail oriented and organized. Manages conflict with good resolutions. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks based on importance, and anticipate needs of providers. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school degree or GED required; college degree preferred. CMA and/or CNA certificate or equivalent experience and willingness to earn CMA certification required. BLS Required. Two years of experience as a medical assistant or related role preferred. Medical terminology strongly preferred. CPR/BLS certification, Required upon hire.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Phlebotomy strongly preferred. Urological experience strongly preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Required to walk and stand (including for extended periods of time). Ability to perform physical tasks such as reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting and/or moving greater than 50 pounds. Constantly required to read computer screen. Able to process vast amounts of information, multi-task, apply problem solving skills and exercise good judgment. Able to concentrate on details with interruptions.
