Job Description

Expected pay for this position is $17.87-$25.02. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

Medical, Dental, Vision 457B Company paid STD and LTD Job Summary An unlicensed, non-professional practitioner who is trained to assist professional nursing personnel in the care of the patient in the home setting. The duties of the CNA are planned, assigned, and supervised by the professional nurse to meet the needs of the patient and the patient/family situation. The CNA is not a substitute for the nurse, but under nursing supervision, may carry out certain personal care services in carefully selected situations. Job Specifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Preferably completion of high school education with priority given to the applicant who is certified in Illinois as a Home Health Aide. The applicant must be listed on the Illinois Department of Public Health Nurse Aide Registry. (If the applicant is not a certified Home Health Aide, he/she must successfully complete such a training program or meet the State's equivalency requirements.) in addition, the applicant must provide documentation showing evidence of successful completion of Home Health Aide training and competency evaluation program or a competency evaluation program, which satisfies the CMS HHA Condition of Participation. Must have a valid driver's license if applicable. Required to have a current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of basic nursing procedures and personal care services. Knowledge of the role of a CNA of the Home HealthCare team. The patient populations must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.
ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS
Ability to make meaningful observations and maintain simple records. Ability to accept and constructively utilize supervision. Ability to recognize the needs of people and to maintain beneficial relationships in dealing with them. Ability to adapt and adjust to changes caused by emergencies and schedule, staff, or procedural changes. Ability to carry out simple personal care services for the patient in his/her home under the supervision of the nurse. An interest in people, using tact and good judgment in dealing with those who are ill. Demonstrates willingness and desire to participate in nursing educational programs. Emotionally mature and stable. Capable of developing and maintaining positive working relationship with supervisors, colleagues, patients, families, and others enlisting their support and cooperation. Demonstrates commitment and exemplary loyalty to the hospital and to the Home Health Care/Hospice Department. The CNA must successfully complete a department orientation, and ongoing hospital wide CBL's (Computerized Based Learning); participate in departmental inservices and demonstrates competency by completing the job-specific competency testing/evaluation program, as appropriate to the role of the CNA. Continuing education programs are designed to augment the staff's knowledge of pertinent developments in patient care and to foster a performance improvement environment. Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
