Overview Good Samaritan University Hospital is a 537
  • bed (including 100 nursing home beds) teaching hospital and a member of Catholic Health.

The Nursing Assistant performs, under the supervision or direction of a Registered Nurse, those duties to assist in safe treatment and care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures
Job Details Responsibilities:
Practices regular hand hygiene and complies with standard and transmission based precautions as applicable. Responds appropriately to the special needs of each group served specific to age, language, gender, culture, religion/spirituality, economic background, education or literacy, developmental or cognitive disabilities, physical and developmental disabilities. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, assists with admission of patients regarding reception, equipment preparation, vital signs, obtaining actual weights, orientation to surroundings and implementation of safety measures. Performs direct care with attention to personal hygiene, safety, comfort and skin care while anticipating the needs of the patient and family. Responsible to prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding as directed. Distributes water and other nourishments as needed. Assists and/or transports patients in a timely and safe manner. Collects and transports specimens maintaining standards mandated by regulatory agencies. Demonstrates purposeful rounding utilizing key words as defined by models of care. Considers call bells as a priority and answers them immediately.
Requirements:
Completion of Nursing Assistant program, BOCES or Military Hospital Corps School or equivalent with New York State CNA certification or completion of a Nursing fundamentals course or equivalent within a RN program or a minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Nursing Assistant. High School diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of safety and infection control practices. Knowledge of computer systems and/or prior clerical experience required. BLS or CPR/AED training required and accepted from only 2 organizations: American Heart Association
  • BLS/ACLS
    for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program, American Red Cross
  • CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. No online programs from any organization will be accepted. Posted Salary Range USD $25.62
  • USD $32.
32 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
