Our small family owned and operated facility is seeking individuals with a heart for geriatric care and a passion to help loved ones with Dementia. We are a 16 bed Alzheimer's and Dementia facility located in beautiful Summerset, SD. We are looking for Unlicensed Medication Aides, Certified Nurse Aides, and unlicensed care staff who can promote the individuality, independence, confidence, respect, and dignity our resident's need and deserve. We are looking for team members that can assist with the daily organization of our residents' medications, personal space, and overall therapeutic environment we have specifically created for those who suffer from Alzheimer's and Dementia. Our program relies on the input and opinions of our team members to always find the best solutions.Duties:
Follows facility's policies and procedures to provide medications to residents. Provides treatment to residents per physician or nurse's orders. Applies ointments, skin preparations, suppositories, eardrops, and eye drops. Examines resident' skin and feet, provides appropriate care as needed and reports as necessary to licenses professionals. Records medications provided on appropriate medical records to ensure accurate record keeping. Completes drug incident reports when problems occur. Records Progress notes and changes in resident's condition, skin problems noted, or other incidents. Monitors vital signs and reports problems to residents authorized representative and licensed professional staff. Quickly analyze and react to emergency and stressful situations, while remaining calm. Reports emergencies relating to residents, medications, or facility. Provides reports to next shift on resident's medication and/or condition changes. Does not supervise, but may provide work direction or training to direct care staff. Reports any evidence of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of any resident. Assists in other duties as assigned. Assists in preparing and serving meals and snacks according to resident needs and facility requirements. Shall retain documentation that has received 12 hours of ongoing training per each year of employment on topics related to job duties. Reports any evidence of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of any resident. Assists in other duties as assigned Keeps dining areas clean and in good repair. Provide residents with assistance needed in activities of daily living (i.e. Bathing, feeding, dressing, toileting, housekeeping, laundry, etc.). Administer medications to patients following prescribed schedules Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed Monitor and document resident vital signs Maintain accurate medical records and documentation Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care Provide compassionate care to individuals with diverse medical needsExperience:
The ideal candidate should possess some or all of the following skills and experiences: Has successfully completed the state recommended medication aide course. Demonstrates knowledge of principles and techniques involved in dealing with the physical, mental, and emotional health of adult clients. Have skills necessary to assist or implement daily activities and exercises. Demonstrate ability to assist client with ADL needs (i.e. baths, nail care, feeding, etc.) Able to make decisions to work independently, to exercise good judgement. Must be flexible, have emotional stability; acceptance of people; non-judgmental, non-prejudicial; and is highly motivated. Proficiency in aseptic technique Experience in home care, memory care, acute care, or senior care settings. Familiarity with medical documentation practices. Knowledge of dementia care best practices. Experience working with children or seniors. Previous experience as a UMA or CNA is a plus, but not required.
