Job Description

Introduction The Department of Health Services (DHS), Central Wisconsin Center (CWC) is recruiting for a Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to serve as a Medical Escort and Center Wide Float. This position will primarily work Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm. This recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies. CWC provides short-term and long-term residential services to assist people living with intellectual disabilities in acquiring the personal skills needed to reach their highest potential. Position Summary As a Center Wide Float and Medical Escort CNA, you will primarily be responsible for ensuring appropriate care is provided for CWC residents while in the hospital consistent with CWC and UW hospital rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and while at onsite and offsite clinic appointments. In addition, you will: Work in various CWC residential Living Units (including our two short term units) when not escorting residents to appointments and providing care for residents and performing other CNA tasks. Act as a coach for all other CNAs and Resident Care Assistants (RCAs) by performing and demonstrating appropriate tasks. Adhere to Intermediate Care Facilities/Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (IFC/IID) regulations such as resident protections and rights, active treatment services, resident behavior programs, health care services, and dietary services. Function as an advocate and provide support and comfort to residents when escorting to appointments. Act as a liaison between clinic and hospital staff and CWC staff. Salary Information Starting pay is $27.22 per hour, or more based on state seniority. Additional increases are based on years of service in the chart below. Years of State Service 0 $27.22 1 $27.78 2 $28.35 3 $28.93 5 $29.49 10 $30.06 15 $30.63 $.80 /hour night differential and an $.80 /hour weekend differential applies to worked shifts. $3,000 sign-on bonus applies to those with no prior state service in the last five years; who stay with CWC in the position until completing probation. Bonus will be split, $1,500 upon hire and $1,500 after completing probation. 12-month probationary period is required. These positions are classified as a Resident Care Technician Advanced and are in pay schedule and range 06/12. Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. Job Details All applicants who may be appointed to these positions will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date. DHS does not sponsor work visas for these positions, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. eligible employer. Physical requirements include but are not limited to lifting up to 55 lbs., carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and balancing. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements. Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following: A valid Wisconsin and federal CNA certification OR have passed the CNA competency exam within the last two months and are waiting for your name to be placed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry. Work effectively as a member of a team and interact with others. Must be willing and able to work occasional overtime and weekends based on emergency or operational need. Ability to work with both male and female clients. Well-qualified applicants will also have one or both of the following: Experience training, leading, or overseeing other staff with CNA duties.
