What You'll Do:
As our Animal Care Manager, you'll oversee the daily operations of our kennel department and help ensure every animal receives the highest standard of care.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supervising the daily operations of the kennel Leading, training, and supporting kennel staff Creating a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment Ensuring puppies receive proper feeding, cleaning, socialization, and daily care Monitoring the health and behavior of puppies and reporting concerns promptly Administering medications and treatments as directed Maintaining accurate animal records and documentation Coordinating daily cleaning schedules and maintaining exceptional sanitation standards Monitoring kennel inventory and communicating supply needs Assisting with receiving new puppies and preparing them for the sales floor Working closely with store management to improve efficiency and department performance Assisting customers with puppy questions when needed Jumping in wherever needed to support the team and ensure daily tasks are completed What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who: Has previous animal care experience (required) Has leadership or supervisory experience (preferred) Is organized and detail-oriented Communicates professionally and confidently Can prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Takes initiative without waiting to be asked Is dependable and punctual Maintains a positive attitude under pressure Has strong problem-solving skills Is comfortable coaching and holding others accountable Has excellent observation skills and notices changes in animal health or behavior Enjoys working with both people and animals Can lift 50+ pounds and remain active throughout the day What Success Looks Like The person who succeeds in this role will: Take ownership of the kennel department Build strong daily routines that keep the department running smoothly Help develop and train kennel technicians Maintain consistently high standards of cleanliness and organization Ensure every puppy receives excellent daily care Create an environment where both animals and employees can thrive Why You'll Love Working Here At Cedar Pet Supply, we're more than a pet store. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a kennel, veterinary clinic, boarding facility, rescue, daycare, pet store, or similar animal care environment Leadership or management experience Experience administering medications Strong organizational skills Customer service experience Basic computer skills Schedule Full-Time Weekend availability required Holidays as needed Day and evening shifts Physical Requirements This position requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, cleaning, and working around animals for extended periods throughout the day. Applicants should be able to comfortably lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically active work in a fast-paced environment.
