The Position:

Gavilan College seeks qualified applicants for one full-time, tenure-track, 10-month faculty position teaching Biological Science beginning January 2027. The assigned teaching schedule will comprise a variety of biology lecture/lab courses and may include teaching days, evenings, and/or weekends in various modalities and campus locations. Faculty are expected to devote as much time as necessary to perform the professional responsibilities of the position. Participation in professional activities, curriculum development, and campus committees is expected. The individual selected will share leadership roles with other full-time instructors in coordinating and developing curriculum, using culturally responsive pedagogical techniques, and coordinating the overall Biology program. Distinguishing Characteristics Gavilan College is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Registered Nurse to serve as a Full-Time Nursing Faculty member with a primary teaching assignment in Medical-Surgical Nursing . The successful candidate will provide classroom, skills laboratory, simulation, and clinical instruction in the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program while supporting curriculum development, student success, and continuous program improvement. Essential Duties Teach Medical-Surgical Nursing in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings. Evaluate student knowledge, skills, and clinical competency. Develop and revise curriculum in accordance with California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) standards. Participate in program assessment, accreditation, and continuous quality improvement. Provide academic advising and mentoring to students. Participate in department, college, and shared governance activities. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and clinical partners to support student success. Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience Current, active California Registered Nurse license. Meet California Community Colleges minimum qualifications for Nursing. Master's degree in Nursing or Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a Master's degree in a related field. Minimum of one year of direct patient care experience as a Registered Nurse within the last five years. Preferred Qualifications Teaching experience in an ADN, BSN, or LVN nursing program. Recent clinical experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing . Experience with simulation-based education. Knowledge of Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) and competency-based education. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and student success. Desired Knowledge and Skills Expertise in Medical-Surgical Nursing. Strong clinical judgment and teaching skills. Effective communication and collaboration. Ability to integrate simulation and educational technology into nursing instruction.
