  • School of Psychiatric Technology (SOPT) will be directed by the Supervising Registered Nurse (SOPT Program Director) in the Psychiatric Technician Program at the Department of State Hospitals
  • Atascadero (ASH). The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:
  • Accurately instruct adult learners in professional nursing principles and techniques in planning, organizing, and conducting educational courses in Psychiatric Nursing, Developmental Disabilities and Nursing Science
  • Supervise clinical training of Psych Tech students and assist them to meet clinical objectives
  • Heavy lifting up to 30 pounds when required
  • Communicate effectively
  • Possess classroom management skills
  • Possess knowledge of medications and medication medical/psychiatric administration terminology
  • Participate in the evaluation and development of educational programs and policy
  • Evaluate progress and performance of students
  • Tutor and counsel as needed

The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired. The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired. The position(s) require(s) a(n) CA Registered Nursing License License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired. Maximum of 1500 hours per year.
  • An instructor in a BVNPT approved Psychiatric Technician Training Program shall have had or be currently attending a course in teaching (Adult Learner's Certificate course)
