Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) Job Description and Duties The Permanent/Intermittent Nurse Instructor- School of Psychiatric Technology (SOPT) will be directed by the Supervising Registered Nurse (SOPT Program Director) in the Psychiatric Technician Program at the Department of State Hospitals
- Atascadero (ASH). The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:
- Accurately instruct adult learners in professional nursing principles and techniques in planning, organizing, and conducting educational courses in Psychiatric Nursing, Developmental Disabilities and Nursing Science
- Supervise clinical training of Psych Tech students and assist them to meet clinical objectives
- Heavy lifting up to 30 pounds when required
- Communicate effectively
- Possess classroom management skills
- Possess knowledge of medications and medication medical/psychiatric administration terminology
- Participate in the evaluation and development of educational programs and policy
- Evaluate progress and performance of students
- Tutor and counsel as needed

In-office and travel to provide coverage at clinical sites as north as King City and as south as Santa Maria. Hours are as needed. Will provide clinical coverage.
