5382 Position Vacancy Announcement Florida A&M University's Department of Nursing is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Instructor vacancy. Responsibilities A professional nurse who has the concomitant responsibility for the coordination of learning activities, development of course content, and assisting students in the teaching/learning process; Assist in the counseling and guidance of students, conducting theory classes and/or clinical laboratory sessions as assigned; Academic and/or clinical experiences in fundamentals of Nursing, Medsurg, community health, mental health, maternal child health or pediatrics are desired; Counsel students in accordance with the student's needs; Recognize and informs Associate Dean of existing or potential problems; Serve on School of Nursing committees and participates in committee activities as designated; and participate in programs of self-development (workshops, seminars, clinical practice, research, symposia, conferences, classes, etc.). Assist students in applying nursing theories and principles to the practice of nursing; Conduct theory classes and/or supervises clinical experiences as assigned; Assist in the preparation of tests and evaluation materials; Use multiple and varied teaching methods; Keep students and the Associate Dean apprised of students' progress; Assist in the preparation and implementation of classroom and/or clinical schedules; Review recommended media for utilization in the course; Evaluate effectiveness of the instruction on the basis of learner and peer evaluations; Use knowledge gained from evaluations in planning future learning experiences; and serve as a role model for students in the professional, social, and civic arena. Belong to professional organizations; Belong to civic organizations which promote quality health care for all people; Serve as a nursing resource person for local health agencies when requested; Participate in the overall academic affairs and programs of the total institution as indicated; Actively attempt to influence political decisions that affect nursing on the local level; Assist in the designing, conducting, evaluating, and publishing research and/or studies relating to health care and/or the nursing profession; Share and utilizes investigational findings for the improvement of the teaching/learning process; and, contribute to professional writings and makes scholarly presentations. Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in Nursing. Recommended Competencies Ability to create, adapt, and evaluate course content aligned with program outcomes; Proficiency in using simulation labs, online learning platforms, and educational technologies; Strong knowledge base and hands-on skills in specialized nursing practice areas; Demonstrating ethical, professional, and civic behaviors for students to emulate; and, Clear oral and written communication with students, colleagues, and community stakeholders. Academic and/or clinical experiences in maternal child health or pediatrics are desired. Licenses and Certifications Valid State/Multi-State RN License required. Pay Plan This is a Faculty position.
