Reports to: Associate Vice President of Nursing & Health Professions Primary Responsibilities Primary responsibilities Meet with assigned class(es) at all scheduled times and locations, and provide instruction necessary for fulfilling course objectives. Notify Associate VP /or appropriate administrator in the event that a class meeting is canceled, changed, or when it is necessary to be absent from campus during hours of regularly scheduled responsibilities. Prepare and distribute to Associate VP and students a course syllabus that is consistent with the official course brief for each class and sufficiently detailed so as to inform each student about policies concerning attendance, evaluation, and expected performance. Provide students with educational, vocational, and social counseling that will constitute positive motivation for the educational progress of the student; including referral to appropriate resources such as student service advising, etc. Work closely with Student Support Services to develop and implement strategies for student access and participation in services provided by Student Support Services Enforce college regulations concerning student behavior and building regulations. Submit all required forms such as attendance, midterm lists and final grades in a timely manner. Keep laboratory and/or instructional equipment secure and recommend repairs or replacement when necessary. Actively participate in the assessment of programs, classes and courses in order to improve student outcomes. Maintain student attendance records and employ a well-defined procedure for evaluating student progress. Actively participate in evaluations of the curriculum and propose modifications as necessary. Actively participate in student recruitment and enrollment growth initiatives. Spend such time on campus each day as may be necessary to fulfill all professional obligations and willingly assume the various responsibilities, including committee participation, which normally constitute a teaching assignment. This includes such functions as private conference, follow-up on student progress and preparation of materials for class work. Time spent on campus must be a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week excluding overload. This includes classes, posted hours, and general preparation time. At minimum, use the Learning Management System to record on-going attendance and grades for each course for each semester and session, and document the course syllabi. Attend all regularly schedule departmental, committee and College meetings. Adhere to the guidelines of any negotiated labor contract involving faculty. Other duties as assigned.
Assist with:
Textbook and learning resource selection. Curriculum evaluation and modification Budget preparation regarding supplies, material and equipment. Preparation of class schedules. Creation and delivery of consistent dual credit programs. Risk-management and loss-prevention activities Maintain a working knowledge of the college's emergency procedures and actively participate in the college risk-management program. Monitor conditions, events and circumstances that present risk to the college community. Intervene and/or report as specified in the college's risk- Minimum Necessary Skills, Experience, and Educational Background Minimum necessary education, skills and experience Master's degree in nursing, with a minimum of three years clinical practice in an acute care setting. Requires a current Illinois RN license. Must be in compliance with appropriate licensing agency. On the job Nursing experience as required by the Illinois Nurse Practice Act. The ability to communicate successfully with students and clients of all ages, socioeconomic status, gender or race. Working knowledge of the instructional program Experience with online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced instruction, including learning management systems and instructional technologies. Valid driver's license required. Spanish or French proficiency preferred. Physical Requirements to Perform Job Function Physical requirements to perform job functions General physical effort required includes sitting, bending, reaching, and some lifting (20lbs or less) and the ability to place a work order for anything over that limit The specific motor skills and sensory perception necessary to effectively instruct and evaluate students is based on the content, instructional methods, and objective of the program.
