The School of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center seeks part-time Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) adjunct faculty to join our progressive and innovative faculty, staff, and students. Adjunct Clinical Instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating students in the clinical environment. This position is for the Kansas City campus and reports to the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and Department Chair. The position of Adjunct Instructor is considered a temporary position for the term of the contract.Job Description:
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Provide timely, well-constructed feedback for direct patient care and clinical assignments. Guide students in various clinical care areas, including hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings. Collaborate with department faculty to ensure alignment with program objectives. Foster critical thinking, analytical skills, communication, and problem-solving among students. Collaborate with nursing faculty to prepare for clinical, lab, and simulation instruction. Create a clinical learning environment conducive to effective learning within resource limits. Enforce appropriate policies and expectations for students in compliance with KUMC policies. Utilize technology tools effectively, including learning management systems, e-mail, and office software. Evaluate student progress using established methods. Maintain accurate records as required by administrative guidelines and legal standards. Attend all required orientations. Attend ALL clinical and lab classes. Work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying educational levels. Work Environment Clinical instructors will facilitate student learning in clinical settings that can include acute care, long-term care, primary care, public health departments, and schools. Clinical faculty may also be in simulation laboratories for simulation activities.Required Qualifications Education:
Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.Certifications/Licenses:
Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of Kansas or a multi-state RN license issued by another Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) stateWork Experience:
1 year of relevant patient care experience Patient care and organizational skills. This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.Preferred Qualifications Work Experience:
Experience teaching in a nursing program, with a least one course taught. 2 years of relevant patient experience. Experience in precepting and/or mentoring nurses.Required Documents:
