05/27/2026 General Function The CPR Instructor (Part-time) will provide quality instruction in accordance with college and American Heart Association guidelines and standards. Qualifications High school diploma is required; from an institution accredited by a federally recognized institutional accreditor is preferred AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Instructor Certification is required Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license Working Conditions Classroom, lab, or shop environment Frequent standing and walking to monitor student progress Some light lifting of materials pertaining to classroom set-up and instructional delivery Essential Functions and Responsibilities Lenoir Community College is a comprehensive institution that places primary emphasis on excellence in classroom instruction. Instructors are expected to demonstrate and maintain competence in each of the following areas throughout their employment at the college: Mastery of Subject Matter Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge in the teaching discipline Display ability to interpret and evaluate the theories of the field or discipline Connect the subject matter with related fields Stay current in the subject matter through professional development; involvement in professional organizations; and attending professional meetings, conferences, and/or workshops Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate Teaching Performance Follow AHA guidelines and standards as outlined in the AHA Program Administration Manual (P.A.M.) Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students Employ available instructional technology, i.e. the Internet, interactive technology, etc., when appropriate Encourage the development of communication skills and higher-order thinking skills through dynamic instruction and effective student interaction Evaluation of Student Learning Follow meaningful learning objectives as outlined in the Basic Life Support Instructor Manual Develop and explain methods that fairly measure student progress toward course objectives Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and provide timely feedback to promote maximum learning Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grades after each course as outlined in the AHA Program Administration Manual (P.A.M.) Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstances Support of College Policies and Procedures Maintain confidentiality of student information Substitute for other instructors in the teaching discipline in case of an absence Exercise stewardship of college facilities, materials, and resources Comply with responsibilities as cited in the Lenoir Community College Catalog, Faculty Handbook, Handbook for Distance Education, Policy Manual, and Procedures Manual Other Duties Ensure that equipment, materials, and other resources, such as instructional aides are available and in working order for classes Take a lead role in upkeep and order of daily lab use Make arrangements for equipment repairs when machines break down Notice of Nondiscrimination Lenoir Community College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
