Job Description
Position Summary The Clinical Nursing Instructor is responsible for preparing nursing students for safe, effective clinical practice through hands-on instruction in skills labs, simulation environments, and clinical settings. This role bridges theory and practice by demonstrating, coaching, and evaluating essential nursing competencies while ensuring compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and applicable state and federal regulations. Essential Functions Skills Lab & Simulation Instruction Provide hands-on instruction and demonstration of foundational and advanced nursing skills in lab and simulation settings. Supervise and evaluate student performance during skills practice, return demonstrations, and simulation exercises. Utilize simulation equipment, task trainers, and mannequins to create realistic clinical scenarios. Ensure adherence to safety standards, infection control protocols, and institutional policies. Provide immediate, constructive feedback to reinforce proper technique and clinical reasoning. Evaluate student competencies using approved checklists and assessment tools. Identify skills gaps and provide targeted remediation to support student success. Clinical Instruction & Supervision Supervise students at assigned clinical sites in alignment with program objectives and regulatory requirements. Guide students in applying theoretical knowledge to patient-centered care. Ensure safe and appropriate student practice within scope and supervision guidelines. Collaborate with clinical site staff to support effective and positive learning experiences. Evaluate student clinical performance, documentation, and professionalism. Communicate student progress, concerns, or incidents promptly to the Nurse Administrator. Student Support & Professional Development Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Model professional nursing behavior, communication, and ethical practice. Encourage development of critical thinking, clinical judgment, and reflective practice. Support student retention and success initiatives. Maintain accurate clinical attendance, competency, and evaluation records. Collaboration & Program Support Collaborate with didactic faculty to align clinical instruction with classroom content. Participate in faculty meetings, orientations, and required institutional activities. Assist with skills lab organization, equipment readiness, and inventory management. Participate in professional development, in-service training, and faculty calibration sessions. Support program evaluation, accreditation, and compliance efforts. Additional Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned by the Nurse Administrator. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred. Current, active, and unencumbered RN license from the Oregon State Board of Nursing. Minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical nursing experience. Demonstrated clinical competence across core nursing skills. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience as a clinical instructor, preceptor, or nursing educator. Experience with simulation-based education and skills lab instruction. Familiarity with competency-based evaluation methods. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong hands-on teaching, coaching, and clinical supervision skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to engage and support diverse learners in dynamic environments. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to provide real-time feedback in clinical and simulation settings. Demonstrated leadership and composure in high-acuity or simulation scenarios. Work Environment & Expectations This is an on-site position Instruction occurs in skills labs, simulation labs, classrooms, and clinical healthcare settings. Requires standing, walking, bending, and assisting students during skills performance. Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and variable clinical hours. Must comply with all institutional, clinical site, and safety requirements. Occasional travel to clinical sites may be required. May require evening or weekend availability based on course schedules. Attend departmental meetings at least twice monthly and quarterly all-staff meetings. Must attend all Teaching Effectiveness Training and any other required training. Must attend two (2) annual graduation ceremonies.

$32.00- $35.
