The Department of Nursing invites applications for four full-time, tenure-track faculty in Nursing for the 2026-2027 academic year. The Community College of Philadelphia seeks a dedicated full-time Nursing Faculty member to join our dynamic department. In this role, you will have the opportunity to teach a range of courses-including classroom lectures, skills labs, seminars, and clinical experiences-while promoting student success through effective instruction and evaluation. You will maintain scheduled classes and office hours, provide support to students via email and personal conferences, and clearly communicate your availability in the course syllabus. Working in collaboration with faculty and administrators to enhance the curriculum, engage in ongoing professional development, and participate in college-wide committees will be essential. The Nursing Department lives within the Division of Math, Science and Health Careers at the Community College of Philadelphia. The department offers an ACEN -accredited associate degree program that has been training nurses for over 60 years. Recognized as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing since 2004, our current designation extends through 2026. The program features an integrated curriculum, including community-based care and gerontology experiences in the second year, preparing students for a well-rounded nursing career. The Division of Math, Science, and Health Careers at the Community College of Philadelphia offers a range of academic programs designed to prepare students for successful careers in healthcare, science, and mathematics. With a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, critical thinking, and real-world applications, the division provides students with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their chosen fields. Our programs include state-of-the-art labs including a new simulation lab, experienced faculty, and a commitment to academic excellence, ensuring that graduates are well-equipped to meet the demands of their profession.
Required Qualification:
Master's degree in nursing required. Current, unencumbered, RN licensure in Pennsylvania required. Current (within the last 2 years) adult medical-surgical nursing experience, gerontology, pediatric or maternity experience. Ability to effectively use teaching strategies and technologies for in-person and/or online learning. Knowledge of, and ability to integrate, current technological applications into our nursing courses. Ability to deliver required, predefined course elements, while drawing from one's own knowledge and experiences, to engage students and make the course their own. Ability to teach a variety of day and evening, and first- and second-year courses, at the main campus and/or at Regional Centers. Problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Commitment to participating in the intellectual life of the department and a willingness to participate in the College through leadership in department and college-wide committees. Experience with and commitment to the use of instructional technology. Commitment to the position as a primary job with active participation in departmental activities including team, faculty, and curriculum meetings and accreditation activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Post master's certificate in nursing education, doctoral degree in nursing practice or nursing education preferred. Experience in teaching nursing skills lab including simulation experience preferred. Experience with maternal/child health; gerontology; pediatrics experience preferred. Previous teaching experience including curriculum development, assessment, and evaluation preferred. Ability to navigate electronic learning platforms, Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook preferred. Demonstrated experience teaching diverse student populations. Demonstrated experience teaching within a community college. Bilingual or other language proficiency.
