TSTC faculty deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment. Responsibilities include facilitation of activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and mentorship to students. Faculty will also interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is to integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational experiences. Faculty act as ambassadors for their programs and TSTC.

Salary Range:

$68,400 - $88,921 The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Faculty will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.

INSTRUCTIONAL DELIVERY

Prepare and deliver high quality instruction and facilitate the learning of students. Develop appropriate course syllabi and instructional plans, and organize daily classes utilizing a variety of creative/innovative techniques.

INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT

Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, equipment security where applicable, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.

STUDENT RETENTION AND PLACEMENT

Performs student advisement such that students are provided with timely, accurate, and comprehensive information. Collaborate with the Office of Student Success to ensure students receive current information on tutoring and other programs designed to increase retention.

PROGRAM RECRUITMENT & PROMOTION

Participate in related tours and recruitment events. Assist in department/program planning for recruitment.

TEAMWORK & SERVICE

Demonstrates a willingness to be of service and exhibits pleasant and courteous behavior toward customers (students, parents, employers, and media), organizational coworkers, and other general public contacts. Maintains flexibility, including availability for evening, weekend, or summer assignment, as appropriate; able to work effectively in a team environment; commitment to the mission, vision and values of the college.

• Have been actively employed in nursing for the past three (3) years or have advanced preparation in nursing, nursing education, and/or nursing administration
• Have had three (3) years varied nursing experiences since graduation
• Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility.
• BLS Certification
• Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty, and administrative staff
• Demonstrates ability to employ teaching strategies grounded in educational theories and evidence-based practice
• Demonstrates interest in and value for all learners
• Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility
• Demonstrate ability to develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum
• Experience in the development, implementation, and enforcement of standards/policies for admission, progression, probation, and dismissal of students, and participation in academic guidance and counseling
• Demonstrate competency with use of technology that supports learning and teaching; Maintains a flexible schedule, including availability for evening, weekend, or summer assignment, as appropriate Preferred Skills, knowledge, and certifications or licenses
• Preferred prior teaching experience
• Associate Degree in Nursing, Previous Nursing education experience
• Assist in the record retrieval process to maintain accreditation standards
• Will ensure course materials are relevant, work with industry partners to improve student job readiness, and participate in college-wide committees and activities
• Confirm with the curriculum committee and in consultation with ID2, and ID3 to assist in selection of teaching materials, and nursing best practice standards
• Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Google and Canvas platforms
• Ability to facilitate learning by creating an environment in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings that facilitates student learning and the meeting of identified cognitive, affective, and psychomotor outcomes
• Knowledge of facilitating learner development and socialization by recognizing the responsibility for helping learners develop as nurses and integrate the values and behaviors expected of those in the role
• Use evidence-based assessment and evaluation strategies to enhance teaching-learning processes
• Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively to participate in curriculum design and evaluation that reflect contemporary health care trends and prepare graduates to function effectively in the health care environment
• Demonstrate ability to act as leader by incorporating innovative practices of educational environments

• Completes written clinical performance evaluation form in timely manner of students Education and Experience
• Instructors hold a current LVN license or privilege to practice nursing in the State of Texas, Texas (Board of Nursing) requirement; Limitations on the teaching responsibilities assigned to LVNs- Teach didactic courses limited to Fundamentals and VN skills.

LVNs who teach content beyond Fundamentals and VN skills must have the documented academic credentials to do so. Provide clinical supervision for student clinical rotations under the supervision of a registered nurse faculty member.

• All teaching responsibilities in the nursing program are provided under the supervision of a registered nurse based upon the scope of practice for LVNs in Texas.
• Associate Degree in Nursing required to teach all didactic and clinical courses.
