Job Description

Description Job Overview:
Join our team as a PreOp/PACU RN Manager at Boulder Surgery Center, specializing in orthopedic surgeries. The ideal candidate will plan, organize, direct, and evaluate nursing care and personnel management for the PreOp and PACU They will manage the overall nursing care in the PreOP/PACU to maintain a safe and comfortable environment. They will assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and procedures, evaluate the performance of the PreOp/PACU personnel, and ensure that staff receive appropriate training and continuing education.

$83,200 - $114,400 annually, commensurate with experience

Yes Requirements Essential Duties Estimated 50%, assuming direct patient care assignment. Estimated 50% managerial-related activities
Staff Management & Scheduling:
Prepare monthly staff schedules and determine daily assignments based on skill sets, competencies, and departmental needs. Ensure alignment with staffing plans, scope of services, and opportunities for professional development.
Resource Allocation & Training:
Allocate resources effectively based on caseloads, projects, and budgetary constraints. Evaluate staff competencies, identify learning needs, and organize training activities, including orientation for new hires and high-risk processes.
Compliance & Quality Control:
Monitor and enforce compliance with facility policies and quality standards, including quality control checks, surveillance activities, and monthly reports. Intervene promptly when issues arise and develop corrective action plans as needed.
Performance Management:
Conduct annual performance reviews and manage employee files to ensure compliance with documentation requirements. Follow up on employee development, address non-compliance, and manage grievances when necessary.
Collaboration & Communication:
Collaborate with physicians and management to facilitate patient care, develop policies, and address patient or staff grievances. Maintain effective communication with physicians regarding patient care and teaching preferences.
Operational Efficiency:
Facilitate efficient operations in the surgery schedule, coordinating staffing and patient care flow. Participate in committees, such as Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement and the Medical Advisory Committee, to support organizational goals.
Recruitment & Onboarding:
Oversee recruitment, interviewing, and hiring processes for staff positions. Assign preceptors for new hires and follow up on progress to ensure proper onboarding and learning.
Policy & Procedure Development:
Review and revise facility policies and procedures annually to reflect current standards and best practices. Identify and lead performance improvement initiatives.
Team Leadership:
Conduct team meetings, summarize discussions, and maintain records. Collaborate with colleagues and representatives to foster professional relationships and support the organization's mission and goals.
Administrative Duties:
Manage payroll corrections electronically and maintain accurate records.
QUALIFICATIONS
Active Registered Nurse licensure in Colorado. Baccalaureate in nursing preferred. 3-5 years of management experience required. Expertise in a nursing discipline such as Pre-op/Post Recovery, Emergency or Critical Care Nursing, or Perioperative Nursing. Experience in outpatient surgery preferred. Strong situational awareness and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment:
The PACU RN Manager will be exposed to infectious materials, bodily fluids, airborne particles, and chemicals. The environment is typically moderate in noise level, and the position may occasionally involve exposure to pharmaceutical waste and radiation.
Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds, maintain specific vision capabilities, and frequently stand, walk, and engage in physical tasks such as kneeling, pushing, pulling, or crawling.
