Position Summary & Responsibilities Position Summary:
The level of nursing care will range from minimal assistance to total care. Responsibilities will include coordinating all aspects of resident care as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Nursing Care Provide direct care; administer medications and treatments; monitor physical, mental, and environmental conditions Schedule appointments and transportations Participate in developing and implementing professional nursing practices Maintain records and charts Delegate tasks to subordinate nursing team members Coordination of Care Coordinate with other disciplines to provide needed services Teach/instruct classes in long term care; teach techniques to family members and caretakers when needed Collect and investigate data; provide reports Nursing Assessment Perform nursing assessment Incorporate the nursing approach to problem-solving for the resident Review and revise nursing care plans Advocate Serve as a liaison between resident and care/service providers Interact with resident and families in a therapeutic manner; provide guidance, direction, and support Will be part of a rotating on-call schedule Adjust hours of work as needed to meet the needs of all three shifts An essential function of this position is regular and predictable attendance. Qualifications Licensing & Certification:
Eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the
State of Kansas Minimum Qualifications:
Be free from conviction of a criminal offense that prevents employment with the Kansas Veterans Home.
Preferred Qualifications:
(May be used to screen candidates) One (1) year of professional experience as a Registered Nurse. Three (3) years of experience in the nursing field. Six (6) months of experience working with a geriatric population. Excellent written and oral communication skills. A positive work history in the medical field. A helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients.
