Mercy is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager to lead clinical operations within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. Responsibilities Oversee daily clinical operations for assigned nursing units to ensure safe, high-quality patient care Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff, promoting professional development and adherence to clinical standards Coordinate patient care activities in collaboration with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and support services Develop, implement, and monitor evidence-based policies, procedures, and best practices to improve patient outcomes Manage staffing schedules, assignments, and workload to maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios Monitor quality, safety, and regulatory compliance metrics; implement corrective action plans as needed Lead initiatives to enhance patient experience, including service recovery and patient/family education Participate in budgeting, resource allocation, and cost-containment efforts while maintaining quality of care Support onboarding, training, and continuing education for nursing staff, including competency assessments Use electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical data to track performance and drive process improvement Foster a culture of communication, collaboration, and accountability within the nursing team Serve as a clinical resource and role model for bedside nurses in complex patient situations Required Skills Clinical nursing expertise in acute care or relevant specialty Leadership and team management Staff scheduling and resource allocation Performance evaluation and coaching Quality improvement and patient safety methodologies Regulatory and accreditation compliance (e.g., Joint Commission standards) Budget awareness and cost containment in a clinical setting Electronic health record (EHR) utilization and clinical documentation Data analysis and use of clinical quality metrics Conflict resolution and change management Patient- and family-centered care practices Infection prevention and control practices
