Job Description
Weekend Wellness Supervisor Reports To:
Director of Nursing (DON) Position Summary The Weekend Wellness Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and support to the Wellness Department. This position ensures residents receive high-quality care and services while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Weekend Wellness Supervisor serves as the primary wellness leader on weekends, supervises caregiving staff, assists with medication management, coordinates resident care needs, and provides direct resident care as needed. This position works closely with and reports directly to the Director of Nursing to ensure continuity of care and operational excellence. Schedule Requirements- Weekend position, typically working every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Additional weekday shifts may be required for training, meetings, emergencies, or business needs.
- Must be available to assist with staffing coverage as necessary. Essential Functions
- Serve as the weekend leader for the Wellness Department and primary point of contact for wellness-related concerns.
- Responsible for maintaining wellness staff schedule.
- Receive and respond to communications from physicians, pharmacies, hospitals, families, and healthcare providers.
- Maintain resident records, charts, appointment books, emergency preparedness binders, Medication Administration Records (MARs), and required documentation.
- Monitor resident conditions and promptly communicate significant changes to the Director of Nursing.
- Coordinate resident appointments, transportation, and healthcare follow-up as needed.
- Provide direct supervision and support to Resident Care Assistants and Medication Technicians during assigned shifts.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new Wellness team members as needed.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, community policies, and state regulations.
- Ensure proper documentation of medication administration and resident services.
- Investigate and document resident incidents, accidents, concerns, and unusual occurrences, reporting findings to the Director of Nursing.
- Assist with staffing coordination and coverage for weekend call-offs.
- Monitor department compliance with community policies, state regulations, and resident care standards.
- Address resident, family, and staff concerns professionally and promptly.
- Provide backup coverage by performing Resident Care Assistant and Medication Technician duties as needed.
- Prioritize responsibilities to ensure optimal resident care and customer service.
- Communicate weekend updates, incidents, and follow-up needs to the Director of Nursing.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise Resident Care Assistants, Medication Technicians, and other Wellness staff during weekend operations.
- Delegate assignments and monitor completion of duties.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members.
- Ensure team members are following community policies, procedures, and resident care standards.
- Assist with employee training, orientation, and competency development.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, professionalism, and job performance.
- Support the Director of Nursing with performance management and corrective action processes when necessary.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Lead shift huddles and communicate important resident and departmental updates. Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must possess a current Certified Medication Technician (CMT), or other state-approved medication administration certification.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Medication Technician in Assisted Living, Memory Care, Long-Term Care, or a related healthcare setting required.
- Previous supervisory, lead caregiver, or charge person experience preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Thorough knowledge of medication administration procedures and resident care practices.
- Ability to make sound decisions and respond effectively during weekend operations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to supervise, coach, and motivate staff while maintaining accountability.
- Knowledge of state specific assisted living regulations and resident rights.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Proficiency with electronic health records, scheduling systems, and basic computer applications.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull throughout the shift.
- Ability to assist residents with mobility and emergency situations as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
