- Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Registered Nurse
- Unit Manager to lead and coordinate patient care within a specialized healthcare unit.
This vital role combines clinical expertise with leadership skills to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care while managing daily operations. As a Unit Manager, you will oversee nursing staff, facilitate effective communication among multidisciplinary teams, and uphold compliance with healthcare standards. Responsibilities Lead and supervise nursing staff, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and best practices across the unit. Coordinate patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and monitor progress to optimize health outcomes. Oversee medical documentation, including medical records, nursing notes, and electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Manage staffing schedules, conduct performance evaluations, and facilitate ongoing training in areas such as IV infusion, catheter care, infection control, and emergency procedures. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care. Facilitate discharge planning, family communication, and patient education to promote recovery and well-being. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, utilization review, and adherence to regulatory standards including NCQA standards and DME protocols. Experience Valid RN licensure with current state registration. Proven leadership experience in a healthcare setting with supervisory responsibilities for nursing teams. Extensive clinical background in acute care environments such as ICU or Level I/II trauma centers; experience in emergency medicine or hospital medicine is highly desirable. Strong familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; proficiency in
ICD-9/ICD-10
coding and medical documentation is essential. Hands-on experience with specialized care areas such as geriatrics, behavioral health, dementia/memory care, pediatric units (including PICU), neonatal ventilator management or neonatal intensive care is preferred. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology necessary for accurate patient assessment and medication administration. Skills in team management, working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities, and providing family-centered care are highly valued. Additional qualifications include basic life support (BLS), sterile technique expertise, catheterization procedures, venipuncture skills including phlebotomy and injection administration, as well as familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes.
