Full Job Description Requirement:
Preferably City of Newark Residents Submit Resume and Cover Letter to: Dana West, Director of Public Health Nursing Services Sandra Williams, Personnel Officer Position Description Under direction of the Director of Nursing, the Supervisor of Clinic Nurses, has charge of the care and well-being of patients and supervises the assignment and activities of professional and non-professional staff; does other related work related to the management and flow of clinical activities.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Plans, organizes and coordinates assigned nursing unit and develops effective work methods. Provides assignments and instructions to Clinic Nurses and other personnel. Manages and evaluates professional and non-professional clinical staff including nurses, medical assistants and other support staff Supervises the general care and upkeep of a clinic. Oversees new and repaired equipment. Assumes the responsibility for the handling, dispensing, use, and recording of narcotics, medications, and supplies in a clinic. Prepares requisitions for needed supplies and equipment. Prepares work schedules for assigned personnel. Conducts training courses for employees. Establishes and maintains medical records and files. Prepares reports as directed Assists physicians with the medical examinations of patients. Observes and reports symptoms and conditions of patients. Administers medication and notes reaction. Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units. Participate in quality improvement projects Drive population health management and patient teaching activities within the unit Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
LICENSE:
Registration as a professional nurse in the State of New Jersey.
EXPERIENCE
2 (two) years' experience as a Nurse, supervisory experience preferred
LICENSE:
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of professional nursing and clinic organization. Knowledge of organizing assigned nursing and supervisory work and developing effective work methods. Knowledge of sterilization, immunization, and diagnostic procedures. Knowledge of the preparation and maintenance of medical and other records. Knowledge of the precaution to be taken in the use of narcotics and other medications and treatments. Ability to read and interpret laws, rules and regulations and apply them to specific situations. Ability to provide assignments and instruction to staff and supervise their work performance.
