The Nurse Manager is a Registered Professional Nurse who ensures compliance to standards of care and practice by supervising personnel, for the planning and evaluation of all care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit for 24 hour period and for maintaining operational aspects of the unit by participating in budget preparation and monitoring resources. This individual attends required management meetings and participates on department committees.

Job Details Nurse Manager Responsibilities :

Practices regular hand hygiene and complies with standard and transmission based precautions as applicable. Responds appropriately to the special needs of each group served specific to age, language, gender, culture, religion/spirituality, economic background, education or literacy, developmental or cognitive disabilities, physical and developmental disabilities. Employee aids in the orientation/mentoring of new employees. Plans, projects and monitors staffing needs based on unit census, policies and other variables. Responsible for hiring new employees and encouraged to facilitate peer interviews in selection process. Accountable for annual performance evaluations and competency reviews for entire staff based on standards of clinical practice. Coaches and counsels employees in accordance with established practices. Ensures a safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors by monitoring environment, equipment and supplies. Prepares the fiscal plan (personnel and capital) for the patient care unit, monitors productivity reports and monthly statements and explains variances. Resource person to nursing personnel, physicians and other departments. Promotes safe nursing practice. Intervenes with family and other health care providers when appropriate. Supervises and checks the work of staff. Provides leadership and direction in accordance with department goals and policies. Supports administrative decisions and changes within the department. Maintains professional competency and seeks opportunities for self growth. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards for department.

Qualifications :

Current New York State RN License required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Leadership experience preferred. Strong leadership, time management, and verbal and written communication skills required. Strong computer skills (MS Office) required. Posted Salary Range USD $138,555.00 - USD $166,634.00 /Yr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
