Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to assume the role of Unit Manager within our healthcare facility. This leadership position requires a highly skilled professional committed to delivering exceptional patient care, overseeing nursing operations, and managing clinical teams. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of medical documentation, healthcare regulations, and advanced nursing practices, including critical care, geriatrics, and acute care settings. As Unit Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with HIPAA and long-term care regulations while fostering a collaborative environment focused on quality outcomes and patient safety. Responsibilities Lead and supervise nursing staff to ensure high standards of patient care, team management, and adherence to nursing policies. Oversee patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth. Coordinate discharge planning, case management, and utilization review processes to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization. Ensure compliance with state healthcare regulations, HIPAA privacy standards, and long-term care regulations across all operations. Administer medications, IV infusions, catheter care, and other clinical procedures following aseptic technique and safety protocols. Conduct physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and manage acute pain or dementia-related care as required. Manage staff scheduling, training initiatives, and performance evaluations to foster professional development within the nursing team. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in critical & intensive care units (ICU), emergency medicine departments, or hospital medicine units to deliver seamless patient-centered care. Experience Proven management experience in a healthcare setting with supervisory responsibilities over nursing teams. Extensive clinical background including ICU experience, critical care environments such as Level I & II Trauma Centers or Cardiac catheterization units. Demonstrated expertise working with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth for medical documentation and patient records management. Strong familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and diagnostic evaluation procedures. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities in long-term care or assisted living environments. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, long-term care regulations, and hospital policies related to infection control and patient safety standards. Skilled in managing complex cases involving ventilator management, tube feeding protocols, spinal taps, or sterile processing procedures. Ability to communicate effectively using managerial communication techniques while maintaining a positive team environment focused on quality improvement initiatives.
