A Charge Nurse supervises and supports a nursing staff, while also treating a limited number of patients. Evaluates other nurses and acts as an educational resource for nurses. Are Not Limited To:
Administers and/or supervises medications as needed. Obtains and records Residents' vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration), weight, food, and fluid intake and output, as directed. Observes Residents to detect responses to specified types of medications and prepares reports or notifies the Healthcare Director of unexpected reactions. Communicates with physician's offices and doctors as needed to manage or change orders for a resident. Ensures emergency response system calls are answered in a timely manner to attend to the Resident's needs immediately after the call is signaled. Attends all training and conferences as required to stay abreast of changes in the nursing profession as well as to maintain appropriate CEUs for licensure, with prior approval of the supervisor. Ensures all training required by state regulations is completed and documented each year. Ensures all direct care staff duties are performed as assigned and documented appropriately. Participates in the Care Planning process as assigned. Assists in training all direct care staff to ensure compliance with state regulations, as assigned by the Healthcare Director. Addresses team member, family, and resident concerns to promote satisfaction and good communication. Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent personal or health information concerning residents and staff. Other duties as assigned to ensure the success and safety of HPFM residents and team members.
Requirements:
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in home health, assisted living, hospital, or long-term care environment preferred. Maintains a current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) . Management experience preferred.
