Nurse Manager Position Overview:
The Nurse Manager reports to the Director of Nursing and helps coordinate patient care. The Nurse Manager collaborates with the facility's Medical Doctor, attending physicians, and psychiatric Nurse Practitioners. The Nurse Manager also works closely with the Registered Dietician and kitchen staff to ensure special diets and food service policies are followed. In the absence of the Director of Nursing, they report to the Executive Director. The Nurse Manager plays a vital role in the Multidisciplinary treatment team, working with clinical and administrative staff to ensure comprehensive patient care. Overall, the Nurse Manager is an integral part of the facility's leadership and treatment teams, focused on promoting patient recovery.DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMTED TO THE FOLLOWING
- Leads Nursing Team under the direction of our DON for our Detox/Residential Facility by education, in servicing, monitoring, and training of our staff.
- Ability to uphold the standards of customer service that Virtue Recovery requires with clients, coworkers, families, and vendors.
- Resolves clients needs by coordinating with the multidisciplinary team.
- Administration of medications (PO, IM, Subcutaneous, transdermal (PPD))
- Maintains nursing guidelines, policies and procedures as determined by the Executive Director, Medical Director, Clinical Director, DON and Virtue Recovery Center.
- Assures the quality of care by following Virtue's philosophies and standards; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements.
- Coordinates communication with facility MD
- Medical intake assessments with new client admits
- Client education in conjunction with Clinical Director and MD.
- Oversee nursing staff on Infection Control policies and procedures.
- Oversee nursing staff to assure that documentation for all client assessments (nursing notes, progress notes, patient education, vitals, systems assessments, etc.) is completed.
- Oversee that the medication log (MAR) is current and being utilized properly to meet state requirements.
- Update MAR's and patient status forms/progress notes as needed, or ensure that nurses are completing this
- Ensure all logbooks are signed and completed by nurses (including Temperature Logs, AED Logs, Emergency Bag Checklist, Infection Prevention, but not limited to only these).
- Medication Cart Audits are completed weekly to dispose of any medications that are expired or need to be destroyed.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by implementing procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Assist the DON and Admissions with screening clients for admissions into treatment as needed.
- Responsible for ordering the supplies needed for the clients and nurses weekly.
- performs Administrator on Call (AOC) duties
- Available to conduct client intakes, and respond to crisis situations as needed.
- Provide direct patient care when needed.
- Any other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Delegation to BHT's and Nurses within their scope of practice. Ensure the kitchen is aware of all client's diets that are ordered by the NP's or MD via email. Order all required supplies. Maintain HHSC State and JCAHO standards of care.QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION
- A college Degree in Nursing (ASN accepted, BSN preferred)- Licensed Registered Nurse NCLEX Certified
- At least one year experience in an equivalent position
- Must present good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must have knowledge of recovery and addictions
- Must have knowledge of psychiatric conditions
- Ability to pass a background for state compliance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must have reasonable ability to do the following:- Stand, walk, and sit during assigned shift hours.
- Have the ability to manually handle patient belongings with gloved hands.
- Be able to manually assess a patient as part of a physical exam.
- Reach, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 20 pounds.
