JOB SUMMARY
Works closely with all hospital management personnel, physicians, all hospital staff members of assigned shifts, patients and visitors. Also has frequent contact with community service agencies, regulatory personnel and external review organizations.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Specific:
Adjusts staffing based on the current census of each unit and staffing grids and staff shares based on unit guidelines to meet census demands. Posts all changes in API. Essential Function (EF). Makes calls for staffing needs for all nursing department when short notice call-ins occur or census rises and utilizes staff reach when necessary. (EF) Maintains staffing with schedules, call-ins and extra staff. Maintains records for unscheduled time off (call-ins) and tracks for unit managers. Encourages teamwork and compliance with policies throughout CMC. Records all Nursing staff call-ins and documents reason in API. Ensures consistency with attendance policy. (EF) Makes rounds on each in-patient and out-patient unit assessing any needs and plans for changes in census. Adjust staffing accordingly. (EF) Collaborate with bed assignments placing patients on appropriate units. Also done by Intake. (EF) Responds to Stroke alerts and STEMI alerts, insuring appropriate protocol is followed and document as needed. (EF) Responds to Code Blue and directs Code Blue team as well as documents on Code Blue Form. Responds to Rapid Response and documents on Rapid Response Form. (EF) Responds to calls from the Dialysis Unit and resolve any issues. (EF) Assists with transport of patients within the hospital from floor to floor or floor to unit when needed.(EF) Starts difficult IV's throughout the hospital or provides staff that can assist. (EF) Acts as Incident Commander in all disasters. Participates in disaster drills when available. (EF) Contacts appropriate on-call personnel for Nursing, Surgery, Endoscopy, Bio-med., Physical Therapy. (EF) Participates in nursing and hospital-wide meetings as appropriate. (EF)

1. Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures. 2. Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital's Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations. 3. Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital's Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines. 4. Performs within professional Scope of Practice at all times.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Required:
A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
Preferred:
Bachelors of Science
EXPERIENCE
Required:
Minimum of 5 years nursing experience with a broad knowledge of nursing obtained from progressive nursing experience. Demonstrates strong clinical, management and communication skills.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Required:
A graduate of an accredited college, university or school of nursing, currently registered with the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners, BLS, Stroke Education 8 hours annually, ACLS required.
