Job Description

TITLE:
Clinical Nurse Supervisor, Zion Crossroads Office
FLSA STATUS

POSITION REPORTS TO
: Practice Administrator
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
: Clinical Satellite Staff
GENERAL SUMMARY
Exercises supervision over the training, development, and evaluation of the clinical staff at the satellite offices.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. This position requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. There is frequent exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids, toxic substances, medical preparations and other conditions common to a medical office environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Performs all functions of an office nurse. Directs and supervises clinical personnel in accordance with Pediatric Associates of Charlottesville's policies and guidelines. Participates in the development of medical practice goals and objectives; implements policies and procedures approved by the Practice Administrator. Responsible for new employee training essential to providing quality healthcare. Knowledge and proficiency of the triage nursing staff. Provides in-service education and ongoing medical training for the clinical staff. Responsible for performance evaluations of assigned personnel. Employee performance evaluations need to be prepared in a timely manner and revised by the Practice Administrator prior to presenting them to employees. Meets the deadline and completes a weekly vaccine inventory. Assures that the full inventory of medical supplies, medications, and vaccines are completed on a quarterly basis. Serves in the Administrator on-call rotations. Reviews and monitors employees' time sheets and overtime hours. Serves in the Nurse Triage Weekend rotation schedule and the Holiday sign-up. Responsible for counseling employees and for maintaining appropriate documentation. Consults with HR Director or Practice Administrator on resolving employee problems. Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested. Maintains communication among all work units and departments. Maintains an accurate record of hours worked in Easy Clocking.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited practical/technical school of nursing or college; LPN or RN with certification. Must maintain CPR certification.
Experience:
Prefer three years work experience and two years of supervisor experience in a medical office setting.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Characteristics:
Candidate must have knowledge of medical terminology and immunization requirements for children; the ability to assess emergency situations and act accordingly. Knowledge of medical office practices with the ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and direct the work of others. Maintain knowledge of the principles and practices of employee development to train, delegate, and mentor staff. Attain knowledge of medical safety practices and standard requirements to evaluate existing standards and implement new procedures. Develop and maintain quality assurance, prepare records, write reports, and respond to correspondence in a timely manner. Maintain an effective working relationship with patients, employees, and the public. Ability to perform vital signs and obtain patient histories of pediatric patients. Bilingual (English/Spanish speaking) a plus.
