Job Description
Cannabis Nursery Manager About Torus Culture At Torus Culture, we live by a "flower first" philosophy, bringing distinctive, carefully curated small-batch cannabis rooted in integrity, sustainability, and innovative cultivation to the market. With over 500 harvests completed under our roof, we are committed to advancing the art and science of soil-free, deep water cultivation to produce the highest quality flower, unmatched in flavor, aroma, and potency. About the Role We are seeking a strategic and disciplined Cannabis Nursery Manager to lead our propagation and genetic stewardship operations into their next phase of growth. The ideal candidate will transition the department to a proactive, protocol-driven operation. You will develop a nursery strategy tailored to produce healthy, uniform, and production-ready plants to fuel our unique Deep Water Culture (DWC) hydroponic systems. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute a comprehensive nursery production strategy focused on maximizing efficiency, establishing long-term schedule stability, and maintaining 100% crop readiness. Build, mentor, and manage a team of high-performing plant technicians. Foster operational discipline, uphold high-quality standards from Day 1, and train nursery staff to identify and resolve plant health issues independently. Create, implement, and audit rigorous, SOP-driven workflows for mother plant care, cloning, propagation, and early vegetative development. Oversee our extensive genetic library, mother plant systems (including specific tissue culture variant groups and retain systems), and phenotyping projects. Prevent cross-contamination or varietal mix-ups through accurate strain tracking and numbering. Execute strict weekly and monthly nursery production and kill-off schedules. Align nursery outputs with vegetative and flower room timelines to prevent supply gaps and optimize valuable canopy space. Ensure strict adherence to a comprehensive facility hygiene program (cleanroom clothing standards, tool isolation, contamination prevention). Utilize data-driven insights to track cloning success rates, log environmental metrics, monitor water treatment/filtration parameters (pH, EC, microbial levels), and implement tracking systems to reduce material waste. Ensure 100% adherence to state and local cannabis regulations. Maintain audit-ready nursery documentation, execute precise tag management (e.g., CCRS/GrowFlow), and strictly follow destruction and waste protocols. Collaborate closely with the Director of Cultivation, Facility Manager, and IPM leads to sync environmental parameters, streamline workflows via digital systems (Asana), and maintain a pristine, highly organized cultivation ecosystem. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Your success in this role will be measured by: The maintenance of a consistently high cloning success rate (90%+) and production-ready plant uniformity. Flawless genetic tracking and strain verification with zero tolerance for mix-ups or inventory labeling discrepancies. 100% adherence to the production schedule, eliminating preventable timeline gaps or vegetative room space constraints. Maintaining constant compliance readiness with zero regulatory discrepancies in seed-to-sale and tag tracking systems. Qualifications Proven leadership experience managing a nursery, propagation, or commercial cultivation department (3+ years preferred; commercial cannabis nursery management highly valued). Deep understanding of cloning techniques (aeroponics and traditional dome media), mother stock nutrition, plant physiology, and early vegetative crop steering. Competence with commercial facility automation systems (e.g., Growlink), digital task/project tracking software (e.g., Asana), spreadsheets, and state seed-to-sale tracking systems (e.g., CCRS). Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Plant Science, or a related scientific field is strongly preferred. Practical knowledge of state regulatory compliance, strict agricultural hygiene standards, and workplace safety (OSHA) compliance. Demonstrated capacity to structure, train, coach, and maintain accountability across a multi-tiered operations crew. Must be able to work on your feet for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and comfortably work in high-intensity commercial cultivation environments. Why Join Us? This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a critical, high-tech nursery department and shape its future. If you are an expert cultivator who thrives on creating clinical order from botanical complexity, building elite propagation teams, and pioneering soil-free Deep Water Culture excellence, we want to hear from you!
