Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Manager, Food Service, and Clinical Dietitian, the Dietetic Technician screens patients for nutritional status, cultural food preference, food allergies & meal pattern. They ensure menu food choices, supplements and tube feedings are aligned with current diet order. Makes accurate and appropriate documentation in the EMR (Electronic Medical Record) on patient screening/diet information. Audits that patient meal trays are correct prior to leaving the kitchen. Reviews and audits patient menus assuring the food on the tray reflects the diet order & diet restrictions. Attends dietary/food service-related meetings, and provides assistance with special department projects, as directed.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or related health care field required. Current Registered Dietetic Technician (DTR) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration preferred.
Knowledge/Experience:
Two years' experience as a Dietetic Technician, Nutrition Assistant or Dietary Aide in an acute care setting preferred. Thorough understanding and knowledge of patient nutritional assessment and modified diets required.
Skills:
Excellent public relations, interpersonal, communication, listening and teaching skills required. Ability to relate to patients, visitors and staff; ability to use Windows based computer programs; basic medical terminology and skilled in obtaining information from patient medical record. Ability to organize time effectively.
