Department:
Nutritional Services Works under the supervision of Director of Nutrition/Dietetic Services and Dietitians to carry out patient care duties associated with executing patient nutrition therapy orders and monitoring patient nutrition care while maintaining a high level and quality of patient care focus. Participates in direct patient care activities related to patient screening, monitoring of meal service and patient progress and associated record keeping. Act as the patient advocate and serves as a liaison between the dietitian, food service operations and the patient. Is responsible for overseeing activities related to patient meal selections and service including (but not limited to) menu assistance, retrieval and correction, nourishment/snack orders, and meal tolerance progress reporting/documentation. Is able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served on his/her unit. He/she is able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and productivity under the challenges of varying workloads and patient populations, and stress. Performs other duties as required.- Accurately and efficiently executes nutrition care orders and processes menus and related documents within specified timelines.
- Maintains thorough and accurate patient care records, reports and documentation within specified timelines.
- Remains informed of current patient status and progress as relates to nutrition care.
- Participates in and facilitates teamwork through appropriate, timely and accurate communication and documentation to assure high quality and seamless patient care/service across the continuum of care
- Refers patients with special needs/issues to Clinical Dietitian or supervisor for intervention/follow up as appropriate.
- Ensures accurate and timely patient meal service while adhering to food safe practices.
- Demonstrates flexibility and a high level of professionalism during and in-between heavy workload periods.
- Demonstrates and ensures high quality patient focused service and a high level of professionalism in interactions with patients, visitors and staff.
- Complies with Hospital and department Policies and procedures.
- Participates in all on going education activities and meetings as appropriate.
- Utilizes in a cost-effective manner Hospital supplies and equipment.
- Maintains equipment and work areas in a sanitary and orderly condition.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
Work requires knowledge generally acquired through a high school education or GED. College education preferred with completion of nutrition and life sciences courses.Licensure:
