PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Secondary Child Nutrition Manager is responsible for supervising the cooking and preparation of meals for students to ensure compliance with Texas Department of Agriculture guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduate or GED Experience in Child Nutrition Management TSFSA Certification Must possess and maintain current a Certified Food Management certificate approved by the State of Texas and local Health Department Computer knowledge Lift 30 pounds continuously and occasionally up to 75 pounds Capable of working well with others.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Supervise the preparation and cooking of meals for students.
  • Supervise the daily operation of a school campus kitchen.
  • Follow standardize recipes.
  • Plan and order food and non-food supplies to ensure adequate supply for weekly menu.
  • Check deliveries, for proper temperature and quality.
  • Keep inventory of all supplies to avoid excess inventory.
  • Complete daily the food production record for breakfast, lunch and/or snack along with daily work schedules.
  • Train employees and supervise standard of work performance.
  • Train staff on safety, health and sanitation.
  • Work for an effective staff relationship to develop skills.
  • Work with the Director of Child Nutrition to learn school policies.
  • Evaluate cafeteria staff.
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise and evaluate Child Nutrition staff assigned to campus cafeteria
EQUIPMENT USED
  • Personal computer, calculator
  • Large and small kitchen equipment to include but not limited to: electric slicer, mixer, pressure steamer, sharp cutting tools, ovens, dishwashers, and food and utility carts
WORKING CONDITIONS
Mental Conditions/physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
  • Maintain emotional control under stress
  • Continual standing, walking, pushing, and pulling: Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and climbing (ladder), moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; moderate exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
