Assists the Nutrition Services Director in the overall operation of the department and will perform managerial functional tasks and hold field supervisory responsibilities. The Nutrition Services Field Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that kitchen staff comply with the required safety and sanitation procedures, Federal, State and local regulation, District and Department policy. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High School Diploma. Must present transcripts of highest level of education within thirty (30) days of hire. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position. Completion of safe Schools Web Based Training within thirty (30) days of hire and yearly thereafter. Must pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting. Valid driver's license and evidence of insurability. A driver abstract must be provided. Appropriate current Food Handlers Permit and Serve Safe Certificate (every three years) are required.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree or professional experience equivalent to formal training. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form, using language that is appropriate to the person or group. Evidence of excellent reading, writing and grammar skills in the English language. Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, schedule, and use resources; reach logical conclusions and make high quality decisions while appropriately involving others in the decision-making process. Demonstrated ability to use computer technologies for planning, budgeting, scheduling, and other management activities. Must be able to learn and implement new computer applications and have experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access). Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships and interact successfully with a wide range of people, including school district instructional, support services, and administrative staff. Demonstrated ability to perceive the needs and concerns of others, assisting others in resolving conflicts, motivation others; and designing plans to assist others in meeting organizational goals. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and exercise independent judgment. Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work, complete tasks and meet deadlines in a timely and efficient manner. Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods. Significant physical abilities include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, visual acuity and depth perception, color vision, and adequate field of vision. Ability to lift 50 pounds, when needed. Ability to work under pressure, handle high volume of tasks, deadlines, and frequent disruptions to daily work. Must work with designated bounds of authority and confidentiality. Must uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures. Must take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Food & Restaurant Management. Experience in school food service environment or closely related institutional feeding field, in supervisory capacity preferred.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in administering department human resource policies in accordance with Board policies, district procedures, and collective bargaining agreement provisions. Assist the Nutrition Services Director in ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state nutrition service regulations and in providing accurate accounting and claim documentation to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in accordance with district agreements. Assist in the recruitment, selection, training, organization, supervision, and evaluation of Nutrition Services employees. Assist the Nutrition Services Director in administering the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), including program applications, staffing, budgeting, scheduling, training, evaluations, and claims processing. Support and maintain a high-quality, customer-focused nutrition services program emphasizing value, service, and customer satisfaction. Assist in maintaining high standards for food quality, presentation, and overall program operations. Collaborate with district personnel to plan and administer effective procedures for the purchasing, receiving, storage, and distribution of food, supplies, equipment, and USDA commodities. Remain current on industry trends, nutrition services products, equipment, technology, and operational best practices. Inspect food preparation and serving facilities to ensure standards of nutrition, sanitation, safety, and cleanliness are consistently maintained; provide findings and recommendations to the Nutrition Services Director. Manage and support nutrition services point-of-service eTrition software systems, including hardware installation, software implementation, troubleshooting, and system updates. Monitor compliance with health department regulations, food safety standards, and HACCP procedures to ensure safe and sanitary operations. Assist the Nutrition Services Director in implementing district-wide nutrition education initiatives and wellness goals. Assist in developing and implementing program improvements and operational enhancements as needed. Participate in the planning, organization, and delivery of workshops, training programs, and professional development opportunities for Nutrition Services staff. Develop, update, and maintain operational manuals, procedures, and guidelines for Nutrition Services employees. Prepare menus and conduct nutrient analysis of recipes and menus utilizing Primero Edge and Nutrislice software systems. Supervise, coordinate, and schedule catering operations, including event setup, food delivery, and on-site support as needed. Ensure accuracy and accountability of reported monthly inventory levels and inventory management practices. Attend professional meetings, conferences, and training opportunities, including those held during evenings and weekends as required. Assist the Nutrition Services Director in the overall management and operation of the department.
