Our practice specializes in pediatric speech-language therapy, feeding therapy, occupational therapy, and language-literacy evaluations. We are dedicated to helping children develop the skills they need to participate successfully in everyday activities through individualized, evidence-based care. We are a small practice by choice. We believe in quality over quantity and prioritize meaningful therapeutic relationships, individualized treatment, and positive outcomes over high-volume scheduling and productivity quotas. We are not a therapy mill. Our clinicians have the opportunity to provide thoughtful, effective care without the pressure of a high-volume clinic. Our collaborative environment encourages communication across disciplines, particularly in areas such as feeding, sensory processing, motor development, visual-motor skills, and functional independence. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our growing practice as a 1099 independent contractor. An established caseload of approximately 6 hours of direct patient care per week is available immediately. We are seeking a therapist who can offer a minimum of 8 hours of weekly availability, with the opportunity to expand into a larger part-time or full-time caseload as patient demand and therapist availability allow. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician who values professional independence, enjoys working collaboratively with other pediatric professionals, and wants to practice in an environment where clinical quality comes first. Compensation is provided on a per-service basis, with separate rates for evaluations and treatment sessions. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive pediatric occupational therapy evaluations using standardized assessments, clinical observations, and caregiver interviews. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on each child's developmental needs, functional abilities, and family priorities. Provide occupational therapy services addressing fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, sensory processing, motor coordination, self-care skills, and functional independence. Assess retained primitive reflexes, evaluate their potential impact on motor development and functional performance, and incorporate appropriate evidence-informed interventions into treatment. Address visual-perceptual and visual-motor difficulties that may impact handwriting, academic performance, and everyday activities. Complete timely and accurate evaluation reports, treatment documentation, and progress updates. Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, families, educators, physicians, and other professionals to support coordinated care. Provide caregiver education, home programming, and practical strategies to support carryover of therapeutic skills. Participate in interdisciplinary consultation and treatment planning as appropriate. Maintain professional and ethical standards in accordance with Alabama licensure requirements.
Qualifications Required:
Current Alabama Occupational Therapy license in good standing. Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Previous pediatric occupational therapy experience, preferably in an outpatient pediatric setting. Training and clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of retained primitive reflexes and reflex integration. Strong clinical reasoning, evaluation, and individualized treatment-planning skills. Ability to independently manage a pediatric caseload and complete required clinical documentation. Excellent communication skills and a family-centered, collaborative approach.
Preferred Qualifications:
Specialized training or experience in pediatric vision therapy, oculomotor skills, visual-perceptual development, or vision-related occupational therapy interventions. Experience in pediatric feeding therapy, including sensory-based feeding challenges, oral-motor development, and feeding-related functional skills. Experience treating children with developmental delays, autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, and motor coordination difficulties. Experience with handwriting, visual-motor integration, executive functioning, and school-readiness skills. Familiarity with pediatric electronic medical records and insurance-based documentation requirements. What Makes Foundations Different? A Small, Locally Owned Practice We offer a personal, supportive environment where our clinicians, patients, and families are known and valued. We believe strong relationships are essential to effective therapy. Quality Over Quantity We are not a high-volume therapy clinic. We value clinical judgment, individualized treatment, and meaningful progress rather than arbitrary productivity quotas. An Established Caseload Step into an existing caseload with approximately 6 hours of direct patient care already available each week. There is no need to build your caseload from scratch. Opportunity for Growth Begin with a minimum of 8 hours of weekly availability, with the opportunity to develop a larger part-time or full-time caseload. Clinical Independence We respect our therapists' professional knowledge and clinical decision-making. Our clinicians have the flexibility to develop individualized treatment plans that address each child's unique needs. Interdisciplinary Collaboration Work alongside experienced pediatric speech-language pathologists in a practice with a strong emphasis on feeding, communication, sensory-motor development, and functional skills. Flexible Scheduling We understand the importance of work-life balance and offer flexibility in establishing a consistent schedule that meets the needs of our patients and clinicians. Competitive Per-Service Compensation Compensation is provided for completed evaluations and treatment sessions under an independent contractor agreement.
