Part-Time, Hourly Position Summary The Occupational Therapist provides evaluation, consultation, and direct therapy services to students with disabilities in order to support access to the educational environment. Services are provided in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Arizona Department of Education guidelines, and district policies. The OT focuses on improving students' functional abilities related to fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and participation in school activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct occupational therapy assessments and evaluations using standardized and non-standardized tools. Interpret evaluation results and prepare written reports for multidisciplinary teams. Participate as a member of the IEP (Individualized Education Program) team. Develop measurable IEP goals related to occupational therapy services. Provide direct and/or consultative occupational therapy services to eligible students. Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to implement strategies that support student success. Recommend and assist with adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate, compliant documentation. Provide training and guidance to staff regarding sensory strategies, fine motor development, and accommodations. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations, including timelines and documentation requirements. Maintain confidentiality of student records and information. Travel between school sites within the district as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and Arizona special education regulations. Understanding of child development, sensory integration, and motor skill development. Ability to interpret assessment data and develop appropriate interventions. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to manage caseload and prioritize responsibilities. Skill in using technology for documentation and therapy support. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Current Arizona license issued by the Arizona Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners. NBCOT (National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy) certification. Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Experience working with children or in school-based settings preferred. Working Conditions Work is performed in school settings, including classrooms and therapy spaces. Requires occasional lifting, positioning, and assisting students with physical needs. Travel between district locations may be required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. Ability to lift and move equipment or assist students (up to approximately 25-50 pounds with assistance as appropriate). Fine motor skills for handling therapy materials and documentation.
