Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to evaluate patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs. Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, dressing, feeding, and mobility to promote independence. Coordinate discharge planning and collaborate with case management teams to ensure smooth transitions across care settings. Provide therapy services in various environments such as inpatient units, outpatient clinics, home health, skilled nursing facilities, or schools. Maintain accurate medical documentation and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations using electronic health records (EHR). Support clients with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder by designing specialized intervention strategies. Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with speech therapists, physical therapists, physicians, educators, and families to optimize patient outcomes. Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and safety measures for ongoing support. Stay current with evidence-based practices in occupational therapy and continuously update skills through professional development. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program; licensure or certification as required by state or country regulations. Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities across diverse settings including pediatrics, geriatrics, acute care, outpatient clinics, or schools. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and clinical assessment tools specific to occupational therapy. Experience working with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder and supporting clients through tailored interventions. Skilled in developing care plans that incorporate client goals while adhering to best practices in evidence-based occupational therapy. Excellent communication skills for client education and interdisciplinary collaboration. Ability to manage medical documentation efficiently within electronic health record systems. Prior experience in post-acute care environments such as inpatient rehabilitation or skilled nursing facilities is preferred. Knowledge of assistive devices and adaptive equipment for enhancing patient independence is a plus.
