Job Description

Category Schools - Orientation and Mobility Specialist Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist and make a meaningful impact on students' lives for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time position is dedicated to supporting students in a dynamic educational setting, guiding them to achieve greater independence and confidence in their daily environments.
Key Qualifications:
Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Experience working in school settings strongly preferred Ability to design and implement individualized instruction plans Excellent communication and collaboration skills Strong organizational and documentation abilities Passion for empowering students with visual impairments Flexibility to adapt to changing student needs and school schedules
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver orientation and mobility training using best practices for students with visual impairments Assess student needs and develop tailored lesson plans Teach travel skills, safe navigation, and use of mobility aids Work closely with educators, parents, and specialists to support IEP goals Maintain accurate records of student progress and program outcomes Offer guidance and resources to colleagues and families regarding mobility and accessibility Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school community events Picture yourself fostering essential skills that help students confidently explore their surroundings, both inside and outside the classroom.
