Summary:
An occupational therapist is responsible for providing occupational therapy evaluations and treatment to patients in compliance with the Florida Department of Health, the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), and the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Admits pediatric patients into clinic and/or home health services, including reviewing admissions paperwork with patient and obtaining necessary contents. Consults, evaluates and treats the various functions and skills related to occupational therapy development. Develops and implements treatment plans in coordination with patient's healthcare providers and family. Works independently or as part of a team in therapy sessions/groups. Provides home programming and training to parents/guardians/caregivers to provide carryover of therapy in the home. Maintains required licensure and certification, including obtaining minimum continuing education units. Completes any forms requested by insurance panels as applicable to caseload. Communicates effectively with patients, their family members, office staff, and coworkers. Coordinates with administrative staff regarding assessment and treatment materials needed for discipline. Adheres to all agency policies and procedures. Functions within the professional standards of ethics and conduct of the Florida State Board. Maintains a professional appearance. Reports suspected child abuse to the agency and to the Florida Department of Children and Families within 24 hours. Accepts and implements any recommendations and changes provided by administrative staff. Completes and maintains organization with all required paper work and adheres to deadlines. Responds promptly for scheduling, returning phone calls, responding to emails, etc. Ensures that the rights of the patients and their families are protected in accordance with agency manuals, policies, regulations, and laws.Job Type:
