JOB SUMMARY

Evaluate/assess the needs of referred patients in the outpatient, acute and hope unit areas to formulate treatment plans Offer effective, patient centered services that will assist patients to return with confidence to as much independence as possible with daily tasks and activities Organize and conduct a medically prescribed occupational therapy program to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of body part Help all patients reach their maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live withing the limits of their capabilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization Provide therapy services defined in treatment plans Work cooperatively with physicians, case managers, and other members of the healthcare team Maintain accurate, timely documentation of therapy services in the medical record Serve as clinical mentor and/or instructor to colleagues Assist with program development and performance improvement for the department Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, therapy techs and students as needed Perform other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program (minimum of bachelor's degree) Current Louisiana State Occupational Therapy license (temporary license allowed) BLS Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to transfer patients Must be able to stand on your feet for extended periods of time

SAFETY PRACTICES

Consistently follows all established Safety procedures, incident/accident protocol and precautions or universal precautions when performing duties relating to work area. Always follows good infection control practices and is familiar with Infection control policies, procedures, PPE guidelines and guidance relevant to area of work. Practices proper body mechanics and ergonomics at all times. Follows established plans, policies, and procedures during emergencies, such as fire evacuation, fire drills and actively participates in emergency exercises/disasters etc. Reports all Life Safety maintenance issues, defective equipment, etc. through the Environmental Services work order system.
