Aug 24, 2026 Job Description RSU 48 is looking for an Hourly Contracted Occupational Therapist to serve our high school students who attend Lincoln Academy and any potential Pre K students (who belong to RSU 48) who attend Coastal Kids Pre-School. This position is part-time and involves services for approximately 6 students with IEPs at Lincoln Academy for 2026-2027 school year. We currently do not have any children requiring services at Coastal Kids for 2026-2027 school year but we do expect the potential for some as we progress through the summer and into the new school year. The OT would be responsible for providing Occupational Therapy services, administering necessary evaluations, updating progress reports each trimester on goals, and attending IEP team meetings and participation in development of new goals at annual reviews (or provide a progress report when unable to attend). The district can make available use of testing kits and protocols, if necessary.
JOB GOAL/PRIMARY PURPOSE
To enable children with disabilities to access their education.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Evaluate fine motor, visual perceptual, functional and sensory motor skills as they relate to the educational setting. Plan and implement therapy programs for children with a variety of developmental, fine motor, functional, musculoskeletal, and sensory motor impairments. Collaborate with teachers, parents and staff. Maintain appropriate licensing as an Occupational Therapist Attend regularly scheduled meetings with colleagues. Prepare written reports, maintain progress reports, rate goals, and attend and participate in IEP team meetings. Maintain records/files documenting referral, assessment, recommendations, and therapy notes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in occupational therapy from a college with an accredited occupational therapy program. National certification (NBCOT). State of Maine Licensure. Hold a valid State of Maine Criminal History Records Check Approval. Public School experience preferred. Knowledge of developmental, orthopedic, and neurological disorders. Knowledge of sensory-based theories, tools, and strategies. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
