Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Occupational Therapy program required. National Broad for Certification in Occupational Therapy Certification (NBCOT) in State of NJ required Valid NJ Drivers License required. Proof of registration and insurance required. HSAED required. Minimum 2 years working as an Occupational Therapist required. Minimum 1 year working with a frail or elderly population required.
POSITION SUMMARY
The PACE Life Center Occupational Therapist evaluates participants level of function to establish treatment programs to improve level of function or prevent disability by helping participants to maintain and/or restore physical potential by means of such modalities as training, exercise, orthotics, and assistive devices. This position plans and provides educational services for other
PACE LIFE
Center health care personnel. The Therapist also conducts initial assessments and periodic reassessments and documents and reports changes in a participants condition consistent with the organizations documentation policies. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Occupational Therapy program required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
National Broad for Certification in Occupational Therapy Certification (NBCOT) in State of NJ required. Valid NJ Drivers License, Registration and Insurance required. HSAED required.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 2 years working as an Occupational Therapist required. Minimum 1 year working with a frail or elderly population required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Employee must be able to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team model, interfacing and collaborating with a wide range of clinical and social services disciplines who work together to manage the PACE participants' care. The work setting is in an Adult Day Health Center and primary care clinic environment with moderate noise levels and controlled temperatures. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to communicate with all staff, vendors, and clients. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination; the ability to use department equipment. Requires lifting/carrying up to 65lbs.and pushing or pulling 150lbs.using appropriate body mechanics and equipment, with reasonable accommodation if needed. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching a majority of the workday. Works with such equipment as computer terminal, fax machine, printer and copier. The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
