Pediatric Occupational Therapist We are looking for a committed, compassionate, and client focused Occupational Therapist to join our growing pediatric practice. Our work is primarily with children and families, with a strong focus on sensory processing and regulation, behavior and emotional regulation, feeding, fine motor and visual motor skills, daily living skills, and family support. The ideal candidate will take a holistic, strengths based approach and understand the importance of partnering with families to help children participate more successfully in their everyday environments. Schedule Our greatest current need is Monday through Friday from approximately 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. We are looking for someone who can commit to a minimum of two, ideally five, consistent days per week during these hours. Additional daytime hours may also be available. We are also open to a therapist who would like to work one weekend day , with flexibility to set the hours that work best for their schedule. Responsibilities Provide individualized occupational therapy evaluation and treatment for primarily pediatric clients Address sensory processing, self regulation, behavior, feeding, fine motor, visual motor, visual perceptual, and daily living skill needs Support children in developing the skills needed to participate successfully at home, school, and in the community Select and adapt occupational therapy treatment approaches based on each child's individual strengths, needs, and goals Use play based, functional, and developmentally appropriate interventions Teach children new ways of approaching tasks and break activities into achievable steps when appropriate Identify environmental adaptations and strategies that improve participation and independence Recommend and train families in the use of adaptive equipment or other supports when appropriate Collaborate closely with parents and caregivers to develop practical strategies that can be incorporated into everyday routines Provide caregiver education, coaching, and home recommendations Establish and monitor meaningful short term and long term treatment goals Complete timely documentation and regularly communicate with families regarding progress and recommendations Collaborate with other professionals involved in the child's care when appropriate Qualifications and Skills Valid New York State license to practice occupational therapy Master's degree or greater in occupational therapy Strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and evidence informed practice Interest in working with children and families Knowledge or interest in sensory processing, regulation, behavior, feeding, fine motor development, and pediatric daily living skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to build positive relationships with children and caregivers Culturally responsive and respectful communication Ability to individualize treatment based on the needs, strengths, interests, and priorities of each child and family Commitment to continued learning and professional growth Pediatric experience is preferred but is not required.
